Yonkers, 2009-2010
The goal of the project this year was to give youths in Yonkers the power to
demonstrate how they would change the planet if they could. The year resulted in
some great comics related to the environment, leadership, and violence
prevention. School teachers at six Yonkers schools helped students think about
the characters, develop the stories, and incorporate content that they had
studied in science, social studies, English, and even math classes. The partner
for this project was the
Yonkers Public
Schools.
